Horse + Bamboo 45th anniversary FREE tickets for 45-year-olds

Rossendale entertainment venue Horse + Bamboo is celebrating a milestone anniversary – and the stage is set for a special group of people to join in.

The arts and entertainment centre, in Waterfoot, marks 45 years since its curtains opened this year and is inviting everyone celebrating the same birthday to get involved.

Anyone turning 45 during 2023 gets a free ticket to any adult event at the Bacup Road venue between now and the end of July.

They’ll also be able to raise a glass to 45 years with a free drink at their chosen event.

The venue, founded as a travelling theatre company, boasts a lively evening scene alongside its family theatre offerings.

Its packed schedule of events includes live music, monthly cinema screenings and the chance for visitors to step up with open mic and open decks nights. The venue also boasts its own licensed bar, open to the public every Friday from 6pm, with or without an event.

Jenn Camilleri, Executive Producer for Horse and Bamboo, said: “The local community has supported us for decades and we felt it was the perfect time to give something back. We have a fantastic schedule of events this year, with live music and entertainment acts who love coming to our unique Rossendale venue. So many places have closed their doors over the past few years, but we have a centre that is really thriving right on your doorstep.

To claim the free ticket, qualifying people can email info@horseandbamboo.org to book in advance or come down on the night. To claim your free drink & ticket, you will be required to bring proof of your 1978 birthday when you attend your chosen event.
Live music will be available this month from Lunatraktors, a ‘broken folk’ duo from Margate, on 24 February from 8pm (bar open at 6pm). They strip down folk and rebuild it with influences from clowning, cabaret, art punk, flamenco and trip-hop.

On 17 March it’s the turn of Sautikano, musical fusio ‘afrofolk’ with a core of experienced performers from across the world.

The next film is I Get Knocked Down on 7 March, the untold story of Chumbawamba from Dunstan Bruce.
