Stansted Park Light Railway
*** Santa is coming to the Railway! ***
Santa Specials will be running each Weds and Sat from Sat 2nd to Sat 23rd December (weather permitting. See our website sp-lr.co.uk/ for more details.
A lovely 7 1/4 inch gauge miniature railway which runs around the glorious grounds of Stansted Park (opposite the Garden Centre), Nr Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, PO9 6DU.
Open every Weds & Sat 10:30am - 3:30pm Gate closes 3:15pm

Run entirely by our friendly volunteers, the railway will take you on a lovely circuit through the grounds that will provide enjoyment for all ages. Approx. 1 mile from the 3 platform station, through the Arboretum, back through the station, past the 6 road engine shed with turntable on your left over a 12 foot span girder bridge round Loggers Loop and back into the station.
The railway opened in 2005, with quite humble beginnings, but over the years, the number of volunteers involved has grown, along with the locomotive fleet, which has 1 steam loco, 2 petrol hydraulics and and hybrid (electric/petrol) locomotive. Please be aware that while the railway is totally family friendly, children (under 12) must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Like to Volunteer?
All of the staff at the Railway are volunteers with varying skills. There is something for everyone and with suitable training you can become a Guard, Stationmaster or a Train Driver!
You don’t need to be a mechanic to enjoy the fun of running the railway. There are various roles and skills required such as, gardening, painting, customer facing roles such as the ticket office, that all contribute to keeping the railway operating smoothly and in good order.
All of which you can train to do and of course hopefully enjoying yourself in the process.
