Hay Madrigals Consort of Voices and Instruments

Hay Madrigals Consort of Voices and Instruments

Conducted by Paul Sweeting, Hay Madrigals will perform beautiful music from Mozart’s very late time - just before his death - and his very early time. Firstly, his Ave Verum Corpus, sung by the choir, will be accompanied on the organ by the renowned player and improviser Fr Richard Williams, who will then extemporise in his amazing way. Next we’ll perform Mozart’s lovely Missa Brevis in D minor, composed when he was just 13. Scenes from two early operas follow: a duet and aria from Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (1762); then songs and choruses from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (1689), including the famous ‘Dido’s lament’. The voices will be accompanied by strings and chamber organ throughout.

Afterwards there will be the usual delicious selection of homemade seasonal cakes, tea, coffee and wine for sale.

Do join us for a lovely afternoon of music that is both uplifting and moving.
