Charity Choral Concert by Erleigh Cantors Music from Italy & England
Earley St Peter’s Church is delighted to welcome back the Erleigh Cantors for their annual charity concert, in aid of the church and Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. We are very much hoping for another full church this year, having raised over £1,800 in 2025.
The Erleigh Cantors have been entertaining audiences in the Berkshire area under the baton of Ian Westley for over 35 years, as well as singing services in cathedrals around the UK (they are singing at Carlisle Cathedral in a few weeks’ time).
The varied choral programme will include the following:
Ralph Vaughan Williams Three Shakespeare Songs
John Rutter Feel the Spirit (a cycle of spirituals) and O Lord Thou Hast Searched Me Out
Giovanni Gabrieli Exultet iam angelica
Orlando Lassus Eccho
Ronald Corp Missa San Marco
There will also be separate oboe/cor anglais items and readings by Merry Evans.
as well as music for oboe and cor anglais, played by local musician, author and polymath Frances Jones and accompanied by Martin Jones.
The church is a delightful, traditional flint-built Victorian church with fine wall art and stained glass, and you will be assured of a warm welcome. There will be a selection of refreshments in the interval and the opportunity to purchase Mama Nunn’s homemade preserves in aid of the hospice. There is a hearing loop available in the church and accessible toilets in the adjacent hall. Parking is available in the church car park, neighbouring St Peter’s School playground and Sol Joel Park, as well as limited on-street parking.
