Wellness Weekend: Forest Bathing, Sun 21 May, 09.30-11.30am

An opportunity to celebrate National Walking Month and World Meditation Day with a relaxing, centering and inspiring Forest Bathing session. Enter the woodland in south London and leave your worries, stress, anxieties and tiredness at the gates!

Nigel Grimes, an experienced facilitator of mindful and breathing techniques, will lead you through a journey that will open the senses to a healing invitation, conversation and exploration through nature’s blessings.

Morden Hall Park, a piece of woodlands in London is a perfect place to acknowledge the Walk in the Woods Month and an invitation to take care of yourself during the Mental Health Awareness Week (15-21 May) through Forest Bathing. We have scheduled this event on the 21st of May, the World Meditation Day. A special day to spend in a silent communication and connection to nature.

We invite you to experience “bathing” in the trees’ transformative, unwinding and uplifting gifts inside a woodland oasis looked after by the National Trust. Forest Bathing was developed in Japan in the 1980s to help people decrease stress levels. Many cultures have long recognised the importance of the natural world to human health, but forest bathing has taken this a step further. It is like a bridge – by opening our sense, it bridges the gap between us and the natural world.

Scientific evidence has shown Forest Bathing can contribute to modern day wellbeing by helping people de-stress. A chemical released by trees and plants, called phytoncides, was found to boost the immune system.
