King Street Gallery welcomes printmaker Alan Williams to The Chate Room for this exploration of colour, mark making and pattern in his work.
“A few themes and approaches to my practice converge in this exhibition. I have always considered drawing, both observational and from the imagination, as the cornerstone of my work. There’s also a subconscious element arising from doodles ,usually created during long phone calls! I have collected these scraps of paper for years and they continue to provide characters and motifs to populate my images. The printmaking processes themselves offer infinite combinations of colour, mark making and pattern, I’ve been exploring them for nearly 30 years and am still literally scratching the surface!”
