Tapestries were the most expensive wall decorations in the Middle Ages and beyond

Lecture 2: Every colour under the sun
This lecture looks at how textile colours developed in the 20th century. It is the story of everything from khaki to the little black dress and from day glo to colours which respond to the sun or the rain.
Lecture 3: History of Embroidery
This is a whirlwind tour through some of the types and roles of embroidery from adorning royalty to the church and from military use to fashion taking us from Aristotle to the current time and from many countries of the world including India, Turkey, China, Japan and Western Europe..
