Baroness Hale: A Lecture on the Legacy of Magna Carta

To celebrate our art exhibition, To Be Free, the RT Hon The Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE will join us at the Cathedral to discuss the legacy of Magna Carta.

Academic lawyer, law reformer and judge, Lady Hale was the United Kingdom’s first female Law Lord.

While President of the Supreme Court Lady Hale attracted global attention when she gave the Court’s judgement that the 2019 prorogation of Parliament was unlawful.

In 1984 she was the first woman to serve on the Law Commission, and as a pioneering reformer her landmark rulings included those in domestic violence, divorce, mental health and equality. Lady Hale has always taken an interest in religion and the law having written and spoken on the subject many times. Her autobiography, Spider Woman, was published in 2021.

Now, she joins us at Salisbury Cathedral on the 9 August for a lecture on Magna Carta and its lasting legacy.
This event begins at 19:15, and doors will open at 19:00. Tickets are £10 for adults, and £5 for students.
