The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir, under their new Musical Director, Thom Meredith, present the first Concert of their 2023/24 Season featuring 2 works which reflect on the timeline of our existence:
1. The Sunrise Mass. by Ola Gjeilo
2. Requiem. By Gabriel Faure
Gjeilo’s relatively new expression of the mass is written in 4 movements and in the words of the composer ‘ is a metaphor for human development from child to adult, for a spiritual journey or for the creative process itself’.
Beautifully scored for choir and string orchestra, this is truly a fitting start to a new era for the YPC under its new musical director.
Faure’s hauntingly beautiful and ever popular work will complete what will be a memorable and uplifting evening.
