Goosfest 23 - Arts and Music Festival
Pre-Goosfest Arts, Crafts and Community Events Weekend: Includes – Art in the Barns, twenty-five of the North West’s leading artists, whose art will be available to buy, will be exhibiting their work; A wonderful display and range of floral arrangements by the Goostrey Flower Club will also be on view; An exhibition of Transport in and around Goostrey over the last two centuries, put together by the Goostrey Parish Archive Group and The Friends of Goostrey Station (FOGS); A wide-range of creative workshops, provided by friendly local experts from poetry and creative writing, singing, to the art of wellbeing, an introduction to water colours and print making.
Main Goosfest Programme of Events: Highlights include an Edinburgh Fringe favourite internationally renowned singer-pianist Jeremy Sassoon and his Trio; the current Ultimate Elvis Tribute British Champion, Paul Larcombe, will be entertaining us at ‘Goostrey Goes to Las Vegas’; an organ recital by Bridgewater Hall and international organist Jonathan Scott; English music hall, melodious chamber pop, unrestrained romanticism, heavenly harmonies and a dollop of Disney on the side with ‘Beware of Trains’, featuring Marie Claire Breen and Leighton Jones;
There’s the ever-popular Goosfest Buzz Comedy Night, plus drama, a singing workshop and a macrame workshop; an entertaining lecture on the history of BBC situation comedy.
In addition, there is also lunch at The Swettenham Arms accompanied by musical entertainment; afternoon tea at The Yellow Broom restaurant with entertainment from Royal Northern College of Music musicians.
The final Goosfest weekend begins with a wonderful fifteen-piece big band of former musical students at The Royal Northern College of Music; headline stage show ‘Walk Like a Man’ – an award-winning tribute show to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons; and an evening with one of the most exciting, vibrant choirs in the Northwest.
