Eye Airfield World War 2 USAAF 490th Bomber Group Talk
Heritage Open Day: History presented by History students of the Hartismere School who will deliver a talk conveying information about the Airfield and the USAAF 490th Bomber Group who were based at the airfield. This area is steeped with history with Saxon burial grounds, Roman roads, links with the American War of Independence and their civil war. However the pupils of the Hartismere School will be covering the Heritage of the Eye airfield and the United States of America USAAF 490 th Bombardment Group who replaced the RAF on the airfield in the 1940s The pupils have covered this topic in their history studies and are keen to share their findings of events that happened almost eighty years ago.
