Heritage Open Day: Gainsborough's House birthplace museum of Gainsborough re-opened in November 2022 after a £10million development project, majority funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund to refurbish and reinterpret the Historic House and build new galleries. Gainsborough's House is finally completely 'unwrapped' with the collection reinstalled, new interpretation in the Historic House including an Artist's Studio, John Constable's family collection, a Silk Gallery exploring Sudbury's silk heritage, a room dedicated to the East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing and the David Pike Drawings Gallery which has changing exhibitions of works on paper. The new galleries show the best of Gainsborough in our silk-lined Gainsborough Gallery.
