The St Peter’s Church Brackley,800th Anniversary Celebration Concert!!
On Saturday 25th November 2023 @ 7.30pm, in celebration of the 800th Anniversary of St Peter’s Church, Brackley Jubilee Choir performs the premiere of St Peter’s Gloria, written by local composer Roland Johnson as part of a concert programme including music by one of the UK’s most acknowledged modern choral composers - John Rutter.
At the request of Rev Rich Duncan, Vicar of St Peter’s, Roland Johnson, formerly on the staff at Stowe School, kindly agreed to compose St Peter’s Gloria to celebrate the 800th anniversary to be included as part of a series of events linked to Brackley's parish church throughout 2023.
November 25th 2023, will be the first public performance of St Peter’s Gloria, which is written to reflect scriptural vignettes from the life of the apostle Peter along with poetic extrapolation from the Gospel stories. The Inspiration for the score echos music from the great works of classical music, including Handel's Messiah and Mozart's choral settings.
Chair of Brackley Jubilee Choir, Auriel Warwick said: “We are happy to have been invited to perform the premiere of St Peter’s Gloria and it seems entirely appropriate that our Musical Director, Nick Perry has chosen John Rutter’s Te Deum, along with other choral anthems…….”
”……….Brackley Jubilee Choir has been part of Brackley’s cultural life for over 45 years and we are looking forward to taking part in this 800th Centenary St Peter’s Church Celebration concert and welcoming both regular and new audience members from the growing Brackley and District community to join us”.
