Care home to help local people navigate ‘life-changing’ dementia diagn

A care home in Shrewsbury is inviting the local community to learn more about living with dementia.

Led by special guest, Chief Executive and Co-Founder of Dementia Pathfinders Barbara Stephens, the session will provide support and insight into how a journey with dementia may unfold following a diagnosis. Barbara will also offer guidance on how to live positively with the condition, while making important emotional and practical adjustments.

There will also be a helpful Q&A at the end of the event, and the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Oxbow Manor and take a tour of the home.

Emma Tillyer, Home Manager at Oxbow Manor, said: “We understand how difficult it can be to navigate the challenges that come with a dementia diagnosis. It’s life-changing for both the person diagnosed and their family, and it’s natural to have questions and worries about what may lie ahead – which is why we wanted to host this special event.

“Here at Oxbow Manor, we have extensive experience of caring for people living with dementia, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Barbara to help those in the local community find out more about dementia and what a diagnosis might mean for a loved one.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Barbara for what we anticipate will be an incredibly helpful afternoon for all involved – and we’d encourage those interested to book their space to avoid missing out.”

Oxbow Manor is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the home has its very own cinema, café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
