To mark the event of the Fort becoming a member of the Historic Houses Association we are devoting the afternoon of Sunday 8th October to a celebration of ‘Our Heritage’ and would be delighted if you could join us.
The Anglesey Hussars will be in the forge area from 2.00pm, re-enacting the life of the militia which inhabited Abermenai Barracks, the buildings which ultimately became Fort Belan.
At 3.30pm there will be an introductory talk in the Music Room about the aims and activities of the HHA by Phillip Godsal who is in charge of the Welsh branch. This will be followed by an illustrated talk by Jeremy Rye, the Treasurer, entitled 'Wales' Built Heritage -lost, in danger and saved' about member houses of which he has an extensive knowledge. Complementary tea and cake will be available after the talks.
There is no entry charge but a suggested donation of £10 towards FOBA’s restoration fund would be welcomed.
How to find us:
From the A487, follow the signs to Caernarfon Airport which takes you through Dinas Dinlle. At the sharp bend to the right just before the airport, turn to the left. Go through the metal gates on your right and follow the road for two miles to the Fort. Please drive slowly to avoid the pot holes.
