Newport Music Club presents the Jenkinson Frith Duo

Newport Music Club are delighted to welcome the exciting cello and piano ‘Jenkinson Frith Duo’.

Richard Jenkinson, previously Principal cellist with the CBSO, is a member of the prestigious Dante Quartet and musical director of the Orchestra of St John, Bromsgrove, and is regarded as one of Britain’s most outstanding cellists.
Benjamin Frith, an international piano concerto soloist, has appeared with many of the world’s finest orchestras and conductors, and is a member of the highly acclaimed Gould Piano Trio. Jenkinson and Frith have shared together their enjoyment of chamber music since 1993 in an outstanding and rewarding partnership.

Their programme includes two romantic masterpieces, Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces op.73, and Brahms’ Sonata in E minor op.38, plus the wonderful Romance by Delius, and lyrical Frank Bridge Sonata of 1915. The Kodaly Sonata op.4, inspired by Hungarian folk music, will be of particular
interest as Jenkinson was recently awarded a PhD on the music of Kodaly.
