Guest Artist Ceramicist Jola Spytkowska
The main inspiration behind Jola's work is her love of animals, observing human foibles and an interest in folk tales, fantasy and medieval illustrations.
Her figures often have a playful and humorous element to them and are produced by Jola exploring the familiar, everyday objects around her.
She is always on the lookout for human and animal personalities in the objects around her.
Handbags for instance can have personalities and facial expressions. Some have an impish smile, others can look grumpy or haughty and some even look sad.
This ability which Jola has finely tuned, is called Simulacra and is an inborn ability we all have to see faces and figures in clouds and rocks etc.
The Shoreham Gallery is open every weekday from 10am till 5pm, Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sundays 11am till 4pm
