Swadlincote will be celebrating Heritage Open Days over the weekend of 16 & 17 September 2023, with free exhibitions and children's activities, together with an antiques market.
On Saturday 16th (10am - 4pm) and Sunday 17th September (10am - 3pm) Swadlincote's Town Hall will be host to an exhibition by the Magic Attic Archive and a display of memorabilia by the South Derbyshire Mining Preservation Group. Enjoy the displays and historic items of yesteryear and meet the teams who are caring and preserving our precious heritage.
On Saturday 16th (10am - 2pm) you will find lots of family friendly activities together with Swadlincote Market on The Delph and High Street:
The MSDS Heritage Hive Roadshow will bring the little known maritime history of Derbyshire to life. They will take you on virtual dive trails with VR headsets, you can try on diving equipment and play in the shipwrecked themed area; make a badge and take a picture with the selfie-boards.
Take a ride in the Submercycle, dress up and discover what Swadlincote might look like from under the sea!
Scott Walker is bringing his stunning, free standing ‘Pentagon’ street art canvas to The Delph. His hand-drawn design will be linked to Swadlincote’s unique mining and pottery heritage and just waiting for you to pick up a pen and bring it to life with colour.
And if you need to let loose your inner artist still further, join Joker Entertainment for their Messy Hand and Feet Painting!
Sunday 17th September will see the popular ‘Antiques in the Street’ return to the town centre. Come along and browse the fantastic range of everything vintage, antique, retro and collectable.
