Celebrating 100 Years of LNER
9, 10, 11, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31 October and 1 November 2023
To celebrate the centenary of the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) steam locomotive LNER A4 No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' returns to the NYMR to haul some special services.
Passengers will be able to enjoy a journey behind the only currently operational LNER Class A4, No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'. Departing from Grosmont station to Pickering, you will travel along 18 miles of the NYMR heritage line being pulled by this iconic locomotive.
This unique British express engine will be appearing at the NYMR in its new British Railways blue livery for the first time since its overhaul was completed last year.
For the best part of three decades, it pulled express trains between London and North East England and Scotland. In 1959 it set the fastest post-war speed of a steam locomotive when it reached 112mph in Lincolnshire before being withdrawn in 1966.
There are no reserved seats on these services, giving you the option to hop-on hop-off the train as you wish. Book your tickets now to travel along our heritage line.
