The Canterbury Singers, directed by Jamie Rogers in Mozart's final work, his setting of the Latin Mass for the Dead, and by Elizabeth Jenkins in the motet Ave verum corpus, composed shortly before the Requiem.
The title page of the edition we are using of the Requiem states: The Requiem, completed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr, in its traditional form. Thus it properly celebrates that composer's tremendous achievement in fulfilling Count von Walsegg's commission in memory of his wife, by completing the Requiem following Mozart's death, composing (possibly with the help of ideas from Mozart himself) three movements and orchestrating several others.
The singers will be joined by soloists Emily Renshaw-Kidd (soprano), Caroline McCartney (mezzo soprano), Oliver Jones (tenor) and Jonathan Arnold (bass) and orchestra.
