Royal Northern Sinfonia - Prokofiev and Mozart Quintets
The longest and most intense piece in the concert is Mozart’s. Mozart is known for being
tuneful, pretty, and sometimes just very ‘nice’ but in this music he shows his dark side (we’ve
all got one) – sinister, tragic, even a bit violent, with clashing, stabbing notes. In total contrast,
Prokofiev’s music is based on life in the circus – playful and experimental. Folky tunes
feature in Bacewicz’s music and our opener is pacy, elegant and dead classy.
Meet the musicians of the North East’s professional orchestra, Royal Northern Sinfonia, in
four pieces of music that show off just what you can do with small groups of wind and string
instruments. They’re playing two household names, Sergei Prokofiev and Wolfgang
Amadeus Mozart, and two composers you probably don’t know – Reinhold Glière and
Grazyna Bacewicz.
Accessibility for shows
All wheelchair access must be booked through the box office (can’t be booked online).
This allocation is Stalls Right Row AA, if any are available at the time of booking. Early booking is advisable for all shows.
Allocation is for the wheelchair user and one other person in this row. If your party is larger than two, then you will be required to purchase tickets elsewhere in the auditorium or as close as we can.
