Llandudno Arts Society Presentation
Clare Phillips will give a presentation on Stocking Fillers from Faberge. Clare has been a curator at the Victoria and Albert Museum since 1989. As a jewellery historian she is part of a small team dedicated to V & A's jewellery collection and is the author of the V & A's classic book 'Jewels and Jewellery.'
Her presentation is on the Russian Jeweller Carl Faberge best known for the magnificent Imperial Easter Eggs. These represent only one aspect of his firms creativity. Clare examines the exquisite jewellery, vivid enamelled boxes and trinkets, intricate hard-stone figures and naturalistic flower studies that were the mainstay of his success and delighted customers through out Europe. The presentation will be a visual feast, in which we escape into the most privileged realms of Edwardian Christmas shopping.
Doors open at 1.30 p.m. for tea and coffee and the presentation starts at 2.15 p.m. There is a charge of £8 for visitors.
