About this Event
Every Object Tells a Story
Chertsey Museum was founded in 1965, becoming the Borough of Runnymede museum in the early 1970s. Even in that relatively short period of time we have amassed somewhere in the region of 20,000 items relating to the history of the area, and we take in more each month. Every object that is accepted into the museum’s collection is catalogued, photographed and given a unique identifying number before being carefully packed away until needed. With limited space in which to keep objects we have to be selective with our new acquisitions. So, what do we collect and why?
This exhibition showcases some of the new items we have acquired from 2019 to 2023, and the stories that they tell.
Chertsey Museum is closed from 23 December 2023 for an extended period into 2024 as our new lift is being installed. Therefore, we will not re-open after the festive period until Thursday 18 January 2024
