For our final instalment in the Lunchtime Concert series of ‘French Impressions’ Paul has put together a magical programme dedicated to children of all ages. Debussy wrote the Children’s Corner suite for his three-year-old daughter, writing ‘To my dear little Chouchou, with tender apologies from her father for what follows.’ Poulenc was inspired by his eleven little cousins to write L’Histoire de Babar, le petit éléphant, based on the children’s book by Jean de Brunhoff, initially improvising on the piano. Paul will take on the role of pianist and narrator in this charming popular story.
