The Hornets
The Hornets are a young band formed in 2017. The 5 original members Harry Foulkes (Drums), Bailey Penny (Guitar), Andrew Pearce (Bass), Rui Favinha (Vocals) & Arjun Bains (Guitar) all met at school in Hillingdon. Strongly influenced by 50’s & 60’s r&b, blues & rock, they started performing covers in the local area at various pubs, halls & parties. In 2019 Arjun & Andrew left the band to pursue other avenues so Bailey stepped up to be the main guitarist and Olly Sheldon joined on bass. As a 4 piece, they started writing their own songs and getting noticed further afield. After successful gigs around Ealing, Twickenham, Richmond & Uxbridge, they started to get a following. This lead to The Hornets successfully winning a local battle of the bands and being taken under the wing of Kevin Westbury @ The Basement Door. Being touted as the best new, young band to come out of West London since The Who, in February 2020, The Hornets recorded 4 original tracks at Radar Sounds for their first EP. With a residency at The Railway Arms in West Drayton, gigs for Eel Pie Records, The Crawdaddy, The Ealing Club, The Ricky Tick and a summer of festival gigs lined up the future looks rosy…..
