Louis Vierne is part of the great tradition of French organist composers that stretches from César Franck to Messiaen. His Messe Solennelle was originally composed for choir and two organs, but was later adapted for a single organ.
Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb is a jubilant cantata for organ, choir and four soloists. It uses text from Jubilate Agno, written by Christopher Smart (1722-1771) whilst he was confined for insanity in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethnal Green, London.
A Ceremony of Psalms is a choral work by David Willcocks, a prominent English choral conductor, and composer. This piece sets excerpts from the Psalms for mixed choir and organ.
