The Hixon High Speed Crash of 1968

An in depth account into the high speed crash at the Hixon level crossing in Staffordshire at 12:26 on 06 January 1968. The 11:30 from Manchester to London Euston, travelling at 75 mph hit a 120 ton transformer being carried at walking pace on a low-loader. 11 people were to lose their lives, with many injured as the train derailed.
