Rossini: Overture from La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie)
Canteloube: Songs from the Auvergne
Mahler: Symphony No.4
featuring soloist soprano, Lara Müller
Join us for a sensational concert, opening with Rossini's lively and dramatic Overture from La Gazza Ladra. Canteloube will then transport us to the rustic charm of the Auvergne region. His collection of folk songs, beautifully orchestrated for voice and orchestra, will be brought to life by the talented Lara Marie Müller.
Lastly, Mahler's enchanting Symphony No. 4, often described as serene and ethereal, takes us on a spiritual journey with its heavenly themes and evocation of childlike innocence. We will be joined again by soprano Lara Marie Müller for the fourth movement, which portrays a vision of heavenly bliss and the joys of life after death.
Lara is part of the If Opera ensemble, with whom she has performed both ensemble and title roles. As a Garsington Opera Alvarez Young Artist, Lara was the 2017 winner of the Simon Sandbach Award. We are delighted that she will be joining us as our soloist for this performance.
