Spring and summer season at Gosforth Civic Theatre

Less than 9 months after reopening following a £2.4m transformation, Gosforth Civic Theatre (GCT) has welcomed 35k+ visitors through its doors.
Having kicked off a bold, vibrant programme, the charity team behind the much-loved asset took the chance to reflect on its success.
Programming Manager Scott Forbes explained: “We're proud of the variety and quality of events for audiences to enjoy, not least the return of our popular beer festival.
“More artists and organisations are choosing us to host experiences of all kinds, and we owe much of that to our local community, who have not just attended events, but helped spread the word.”
The May Day Bank Holiday weekend is to be a cultural delight as singer-songwriter Kathryn Williams & Withered Hand kick things off on May 2 with their blend of inventive folk instrumentation and modest confessionals. Following that, on May 3 there will be a standing-only set from Michael Head & the Red Elastic Band before the next evening sees the final performance on the tour of Limelight, from the team behind Haddock and Chips.
The play by Janet Plater, based on Victorian stage star Julia St George, will take its audience behind the scenes of the Theatre Royal 1854, and the performance – the last in a 22-date tour – includes songs from the magical music hall era.
If movies are your bag, GCT is screening the multi Oscar-winning The Holdovers on May 23, and Best Picture winner Poor Things on July 11, followed by Disney’s Wish and the phantasmagorical Wonka, both on July 20.
Support the best LGBTQTIA+ wits on the circuit on May 18 as Jesterval & Curious Arts provide a special night of laughs for those 16+. Hilarity by Jesterval then returns on June 29 & August 31.
Grab a bargain at a community clothes Swap Don’t Shop on May 13, then again May 26 as Sister Shack presents its free, inaugural, dog-friendly flea, handmade & vinyl market.
Scott continued: “Cliché as it may sound, at GCT there really is something for everyone!
