Forest Brass Band, Yorkley
Heritage Open Day: Forest Brass is local band operating in an original tin hut at Yorkley, the only one of its kind still in existence.
There will be an exhibition and followed by a concert. The Onward Hall on Stag Hill, Yorkley was built 100 years ago on the threshold of the First World War. The Hall has 'connected' the community and brought together generations to participate in music making and continues today to connect the community to its rich heritage. Made of corrugated iron, the building has been home to the Yorkley Onward Band, and for the last 30years, its successor, Forest of Dean Brass. It has also served a variety of other uses, providing a venue for concerts, parties, theatrical performances and was also the village cinema.
