Electric Wonderland? Women and the 1930s Modern Home - a talk by Sarah Yates

Heritage Open Day: This talk by Sarah Yates explores how in the early 20th century, a group of pioneering women campaigned and demonstrated in practical ways how new technology could improve the lives and homes of all women. The newly established Women’s Engineering Society and the Electrical Association for Women sought to harness opportunities provided by electricity to make women’s lives better, placing their needs, especially in the home, at the centre of this massive technological and social shift.
