Heritage Open Day: The 18th century dovecote and garden offer an insight into Moseley's rural past. One of the estates of John Taylor, manufacturer and banker, our exhibitions reveal how Moseley developed from rural hamlet to suburb of Birmingham. Discover why the wealthy people who owned dovecotes had them built at the edge of their properties and the role that the brown rat and the French Revolution played in the closure of dovecotes. Our industrious Moseley History Group will be displaying the results of their recent research. The garden has been developed using plants available in the 18th century. The herb garden, with its lavender border, is at its best in September.
