Exhibition: A Botanic Dream

Exploring eighteenth-century gender roles in the newly discovered science of botany, this installation is a beautiful display of hand stitched linens, collages and wallpapers by artist Anne Griffiths. Taking a gentle look into how men displayed their wealth and status through their plant collections and knowledge of botanical taxonomy. In comparison, women who were discouraged from botanical study, found other ways to express their interest through what might now be deemed interior design.
