Loving the Lichen!

Often overlooked, these mysterious organisms, have their own roles to play in nature's different ecosystems. They are also beautiful, coming in many different forms, structures and colours. This special walk will give you an introduction to the lichens of Pagham Harbour, as we look at the common lichens we find on trees, worked wood, the coastal defence rocks and shingle. Hopefully, you'll become familiar with the names of common coastal lichens and the features they have that are used for identification. We'll lend you a hand lens so that you can discover the amazing shapes and colours of lichens for yourself.
