Spirit of the 1940s – Suffolk care homes invite community to honour VE

On Monday 5th May, Care UK’s Kentford Manor, in Newmarket, is welcoming local people from 12pm-3pm to honour the 80th anniversary of VE Day with their very own 1940s-themed celebrations.
VE Day was celebrated on 8th May 1945, after Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio that the war in Europe had come to an end. This emotional news sparked celebrations across the country, with many taking to the streets for spontaneous parties.

Kentford Manor’s VE Day celebration includes a 1940s inspired celebration, with guests invited to join residents to commemorate VE Day.

Kat Rayment, General Manager at Kentford Manor, said: “Here at Kentford Manor, we’re always grateful for an opportunity to strengthen our relationships with the community, so we’re looking forward to welcoming people for a special event marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day.”

Kentford Manor has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The homes provide full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short term respite care, and offer luxurious facilities including a cinema room, café and hair and beauty salon. In addition, Kentford Manor offers nursing care.
