A care home in Edgbaston is opening its doors to the community for a Peaky Blinders-themed event.
On Wednesday 2nd July from 11am, Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road, will be bringing the nostalgia of the roaring 20s to Birmingham for a day of entertainment, history and laughter.
The event will kick off with a performance from Hayley Brookes, a 1920s-themed singer, who will set the tone with hits from the era.
For lunch, guests will enjoy a Peaky Blinders-themed menu, inspired by the BBC hit show and providing a delicious taste of the period – all prepared by the home’s Head Chef.
At 2pm, attendees can take part in a fun and interactive 1920s Birmingham quiz before John Holmes from the Black Country Living Museum sheds light on the cultural influences that shaped the era and the real history behind the infamous Peaky Blinders.
The excitement will continue with a display of vintage cars at 4pm. Guests will have the opportunity to admire vehicles from the 1920s, followed by a special appearance from a friesian horse from the Peaky Blinders show itself at 6pm.
Kim Marie-Newton, General Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting this Peaky Blinders-themed event, and we can’t wait to see our residents and the local community join us for what promises to be a 'blinder' of a day.
“It’s a fantastic way to celebrate the roaring 20s and the legacy of the show – with a mix of entertainment, history and good old-fashioned fun.”
