Kinetika Bloco at The Sound of the Streets Festival
The Sound of the Streets,Kinetika Bloco,The Big Noise,The Big Friendly Street Band,The Sound Invaders: Experience the vibrant world of street bands and carnival music in this festival of musical joy in the centre of Taunton. A day of Dancing in the Streets’ with the amazing Kinetika Bloco, local bands and young musicians. As well as a stage in the centre of town, there will be music in Castle Green and workshops and events in the Museum of Somerset. And there will be plenty to eat and drink at the wonderful Independent market and museum café. As well as the Bloco, there will be music from The Sound of the Streets own big Band, the Big Noise and youth bands like the Big Friendly Street band and the Sound Invaders.
This is the fourth annual street band festival by The Sound of the Streets. The Sound of the Streets brings towns, parks and public spaces alive with the vibrant sounds of street music and inspires and support children and young people to make music.
The London based Bloco is an exuberant mix of young brass and woodwind players, drummers, steel pan and dancers, creating a “unique new British Carnival sound with a decidedly London edge” (BBC Radio 2).
The Sound of the Streets promotes outdoor music, street bands and celebratory sound, bringing streets and public spaces to life, creating free and accessible events. We also run education projects and create youth bands , inspiring children and young people with this vibrant music, life affirming music and encouraging them to play instruments, and join bands. We look to the future, encouraging new generations of outdoor musicians and bands, creating new music and explore and demonstrate the potentials of street music in Education.
