Jefferson Steel is a fading Hollywood action hero whose despairing agent books to play King Lear in Stratford. Already doubtful about his sudden career move, Jefferson arrives in England to find he is not playing Shakespeare with the cream of British theatre, but with a bunch of amateurs in need of a gimmick to save their ailing amdram company in the sleepy Suffolk village of Stratford St John.
Superstar tantrums, jealousies and misunderstandings soon pile one upon the other in this hilarious comedy by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman.
