Rail 200 Summer Gala
At the Rail 200 Summer Gala, taking place at Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Wirksworth, come and celebrate 200 years of train travel in the UK, where there will be a wide range of activities.
Taking place on Friday 18, Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 July
Friday 18: First train – 09:00 / Last train arrives Wirksworth – 18:12
Saturday 19: First train – 09:00 / Last train arrives Wirksworth – 20:16
Sunday 20: First train – 09:40 / Last train arrives Wirksworth – 17:30
Ticket office open from 08:30 – Friday & Saturday; 09:00 – Sunday
Friday- Diesel Day
One for the diesel enthusiasts - plenty of mileage on offer from a variety of diesel locomotives.
Saturday - Anything Goes!
A mixture of steam and diesel traction
Rides up the 1-in-27 Ravenstor incline
Try it for a Tenner! - have a go at driving diesel shunting engine 'Tom' up and down the platform at Wirksworth
Vintage Bus Tours of the local countryside (separate charges apply)
Evening Special: curry train with a selection of real ales
Sunday - Branchline Heritage Day
Steam trains and DMU in operation
Driver experiences with the 08 shunter D3236 on the Ravenstor incline (can be booked in advance or purchased on the day subject to availability)
Passenger goods train with the chance to ride in the GWR Toad brake van on the full stretch of line
