Interstellar: Roger Sayer performs Hans Zimmer's film soundtrack

This September, the stars will align over Mayfield with an extraordinary day of events at St Dunstan’s Church celebrating space, science, and cinematic music.

World-renowned organist Roger Sayer – chosen by Hans Zimmer to perform his soundtrack to the feature film Interstellar (directed by Christopher Nolan) – performs a powerful space-themed programme on the church’s magnificent organ. The programme will centre on the ground-breaking score for Interstellar, recorded by Roger himself, and include a screening of footage from the making of the Interstellar soundtrack; offering insight into how Zimmer, Nolan and Sayer collaborated to create one of cinema’s most unforgettable soundscapes. Sayer will also perform Mars from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and Richard Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra, the opening theme for the film 2001: A Space Odyssey. As Roger himself has said, “This music is larger than life—it mirrors the vastness of space, but it’s also deeply human”.

The event includes a Q&A session with Roger, so come prepared with your questions.

Please note that Roger will be giving two performances of his programme on the day – one at 4pm and one at 7pm. When purchasing tickets please therefore ensure that you purchase the correct ticket for the time at which you wish to attend.

These two concerts are promoted by St. Dunstan’s Organ Trust and supported by Mayfield Festival

Also available on the same day – separate ticket required at a price of £5 per person.
