Dancing feet at the ready – Birmingham care home to host community car

A care home in Edgbaston is marching to the beat of its own drum as it opens its doors to the community for a carnival extravaganza.

On Saturday 23rd August from 12.30pm–4pm, Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road, is inviting people to celebrate culture, unity and love at the home’s very own version of Notting Hill Carnival.

There will be live music from local singer Barry Styles and carnival dancers sure to get everyone moving, with a Caribbean street food-themed menu prepared by the home’s Head Chef.

Guests will also be able to take a tour around the care home, alongside browsing an array of craft stalls.

Kim Marie-Newton, Home Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We strive to play an active role in our community, which is why we’re thrilled to be welcoming locals to our carnival extravaganza.

“The event will offer an excellent opportunity for everyone to get their dancing shoes on and feel the beat of the music, as well as showing visitors what life is like at Metchley Manor.

“We’re looking forward to hosting everyone for what we expect to be an exciting day of music and dancing for all ages!”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence, Metchley Manor offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, in luxury surroundings. The home embraces innovation and offers an array of enriching activities and facilities including a hair and beauty salon, garden and pub.
