A care home in Harrow is inviting the local community to attend the grand launch of its refurbished café – along with some very special guests.
Care UK’s Buchanan Court, on Sudbury Hill, will be celebrating the opening of its upgraded eatery on Friday 29 August from 2.30pm–3.30pm.
The café is designed to be a social hub for the local community to meet and support one another. Each month, the care home hosts dementia café events where advice is shared among carers, families and those living with the syndrome.
A friendship café will also be run monthly to bring like-minded people together through a shared love of activities including arts and crafts, games and talks.
The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Anjana Patel, will be cutting the ribbon to declare the café officially open. Healthcare professionals will also be in attendance, providing expert talks and advice for local families.
Guests will be greeted with refreshments prepared by the head chef, Andrei Zaharia, and will be able enjoy violinist Maria Valez and the opportunity to find out exactly what life is like at Buchanan Court.
Laurentiu Iordachescu, Home Manager at Buchanan Court, said: “We are delighted to be marking the official opening of our new café by celebrating with our neighbours, relatives and special guests. We can’t wait to show everyone the welcoming, friendly atmosphere we’ve created.
“Having a community space is so important to bring local people together. Our monthly dementia café events provide the opportunity for those around the residents to learn and understand how to support them, while also creating a safe space for open communication – now in a refreshed and modern environment.
