Architecture of Ware: from medieval to modern

Heritage Open Day: An architectural discovery trail around Ware Museum and a self-guided walk around the town of Ware. Ware boasts an impressive range of historic architecture, from the medieval Priory to Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings. Follow a self-guided trail around Ware Museum to discover the history of these buildings, and then take a walk around the town centre to view them. On the way, you'll see the largest number of riverside Gazebos along a single stretch of water in England; the iconic conical malt kilns that top the former maltings, many now converted into apartments; and the contemporary 'Maltmaker' statue erected in 1999 to celebrate the malting trade which was the source of Ware's wealth.
