Schools of Skipton Walk 2

Heritage Open Day: A guided walk through 500 years of schools in Skipton and people associated with them. A different walk from the one on Saturday. Schools Walks 2 will look at former schools around Water Street, Gargrave Road, Coach Street and the High Street and also discuss the problems of educating barge families. Led by Skipton Civic Society member Claire Nash who has been researching early local schools and schooling and some of the characters associated with them. 90 minutes. From outside The Coffee House next to the public toilets in Coach Street via Coach Street, Swadford, Birtwhistles Yard, High Street, Mill Bridge, Water Street, Gargrave Road and back to Coach Street. This will take in 8 school buildings and the sites of 3 others.
