Heritage Open Day: Quakers have always spoken truth to power. Through exhibition material, we demonstrate Quakers' commitment to putting Faith into Action. We show how we work towards peace and climate justice at home and abroad. We show how we support refugees. Quakers (Members of the Religious Society of Friends) have been meeting in Canterbury since the earliest days in the middle of the seventeenth century. Although the original, very old Meeting House on Canterbury Lane was destroyed in a Luftwaffe air raid on 1 June 1942 (part of the Baedeker Blitz), the current Meeting House offers visitors the peaceful atmosphere of a Quaker place of worship. The Meeting House is open to the public, including the Meeting Hall, the library, and the children's room.
