Matlock Moor Methodist Church

Heritage Open Day: This gothic-style Primitive Methodist Church of 1903 (Pevsner) by D M Wildgoose of a local building firm is open on Saturday (11-3) and Sunday (11.30-12.30). On Friday (7.30) there is a talk on excavating the lost kilns of the nearby Brickyard Farm. Open day and exhibition telling the story of Matlock Moor Methodist Church (1903) designed by local architect Davis M Wildgoose and built by the family firm of J W Wildgoose and Sons on land donated by Walter Statham, owner of Brickyard Farm. The building is typical of local Wildgoose chapels in late-Victorian style. It was sensitively refurbished in 2018, retaining original furnishings and features including chapel hat pegs.
