Heritage Open Day: A charming medieval manor house set within the largest orchard cared for by the National Trust, Brockhampton boasts over 600 years of history and 1,700 acres of woodland, parkland and farmland, making for the perfect day out this Heritage Open Day. Head through the lopsided gatehouse and travel through time inside the 14th century moated manor house, where each room tells of a different era in Brockhampton’s history, from the medieval Great Hall to the 1950s Freegard lounge.
The orchard surrounding the manor house is made up of Shropshire Prune damson trees, and continuing along the hard-standing accessible paths will lead you through heritage apple, quince, and pear trees up to the apple-core and reimagined orchards.
