South Street Baptist Church Exeter

Heritage Open Day: It is 300 years since Baptists first worshipped God on our South Street site. Do come and visit our exhibition about the history of the church, see our sanctuary, and also enjoy a display of our worship banners. Tea & coffee available. Baptists have worshipped in Exeter since the times when they were persecuted for doing so. The site of our present church on South Street was given to us in the eighteenth century and the first service held here in January 1725. That church was eventually found to be unsafe, so it was replaced by our present building, which was opened in 1823 and later enlarged. Our exhibition within our current worship space will show how the church has developed and changed over the years, extending its ministry within and around Exeter.
