Heritage Open Day: Join the Don Catchment Rivers Trust as we walk along the canal from Barnby Dun up to the Don Aqueduct and learn about the historical significance of the area and its structures. We will be heading from Barnby Dun along the Don Navigation Canal and the New Junction Canal to the Don Aqueduct. You will hear about the significance of the canals to Doncaster and the wider South Yorkshire region. Learn how and why the region has changed over time through the work of Cornelius Vermuyden and see some of the historic structures in the landscape. Please note we will be walking 3 miles along the canal which is mostly unpaved and has stiles and steps.
