Halifax Playhouse Heritage Tour

Heritage Open Day: The Halifax Playhouse is a Grade II listed building owned by the Halifax Thespians, It was bought and rejuvenated from the original 1836 Methodist Chapel into a thriving member owned theatre, first opening its doors in 1949. The Heritage Open Day provides visitors the chance to see behind the scenes of Halifax Playhouse; discovering places where the general public would not normally go. It’s a chance to see what it’s like to stand on a stage; how the high tech sound and lighting equipment is used to enhance performances and understand the huge amount of work and fun that goes into putting on shows and running a vibrant theatre.
